Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder Match Analysis
It’s been a year, but supporters of both sides will recall the Strikers bowlers’ 30 minutes of mayhem on the Thunder batters. Thunder was bowled out for a mere 15 in just 5.5 overs in front of their home crowd, thanks to a superb bowling showing by Henry Thornton and Wes Agar.
A few days later, Thunder went to Adelaide to exact revenge, but they lost that match as well. However, they won by a last-ball triumph this time around after scoring 150 and never giving up until the final ball, when the Strikers batsmen stole home. The men in green will be hoping to make their trip to Adelaide matter this time around after failing in their attempt to exact revenge for a disastrous 124-run loss.
However, following a lackluster showing in their previous match, the Strikers will be looking to start the season strong with a victory over Thunder in front of their home field.
Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder Team Preview & Squads
Adelaide Strikers
The Adelaide Strikers were hoping for a rebound after a disappointing season, but they were taken aback by top spinner Rashid Khan’s back injury. The Strikers would have to make do with the Afghan leggie being ruled out for the entire season, veteran Peter Siddle relocating to Melbourne, and international players Travis Head and Alex Carey scheduled to be on representative duty until January. However, the options available to them are more than adequate.
Following his rapid ascent to the national T20 team, Matthew Short is handed the captaincy. Darcy Short, a big-hitting southpaw and a recent addition to the Strikers will probably bat first and be joined at the top of the order by BBL veteran Chris Lynn, who will play one drop. The consistent Jake Weatherald will be joined in the middle order by English batsmen Adam Hose and Jamie Overton, who was named player of the tournament in the Hundred.
In bowling, veteran leg spinner Cameron Boyce teams up with the off-break Ben Manenti to handle the spin department, while Brendan Doggett, Henry Thornton, and Wes Agar form the core of their pace attack. To bolster their attack, they signed Englishman David Payne, a left-arm swing bowler, and James Bazley, an all-rounder, from Brisbane Heat. Both players will play at some time during the competition.

Sydney Thunder
Sydney Thunder will be looking to rebound after a disheartening opening night loss to form rival Brisbane Heat. Tanveer Sangha picked up three wickets, captain Chris Green performed admirably with both bat and ball, new acquisition Cameron Bancroft worked his way into some form at the top, and Oliver Davies found himself among the runs.
Aside from that, there was nothing noteworthy. But they need to get their act together since they’ll be up against Strikers, who made a joke of them the last time they played. Englishman Alex Hales is out of shape and needs to find a way to run and give his side a strong start at the top.
Daniel Sams is another player who is struggling right now. We all know what he’s capable of when he’s in his element, but he’s struggling with bat and ball. Nathan Andrew bowled well and kept things close in the middle, but he’ll need to chip in with a few wickets to keep things tight. Young Pakistani bowler Zaman Khan performed admirably in the first game, taking up two wickets for 31 runs in his allotted overs, and looks set to take over this position for the remainder of the matches.

Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Thunder outfield report
Adelaide Oval
At the Adelaide Oval, teams who bat first have a better record than those who field first in T20 matches. We predict that both teams will want to bat first in this Tuesday night’s game.
In Adelaide, Tuesday evening is expected to be clear. The weather will begin at a comfortable 16 degrees, but by the end, it might only be 13 degrees.
The Adelaide Oval’s wicket usually makes for an entertaining game of cricket. A par score will be about 175 but the surface will help bowlers with pace and spin equally.
