Trinbago Knight Riders vs Jamaica Tallawahs Match Analysis
For the second time this season, the Trinbago Knight Riders will face the Jamaica Tallawahs. The two squads will square off at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, with TRK leading the series 1-0.
After a disappointing season last year, the Knight Riders have performed admirably this year. So far, they’ve performed like champions, with most of their key players responding to the situation and delivering match-winning performances with both bat and ball.
The Jamaica Tallawahs, on the other hand, have not appeared to be in top shape. Even though they won a few games at the start of the season, their batting weaknesses were obvious.
And their last three defeats have been characterized by batting problems, even though their main bowlers have continued to give remarkable periods. The previous time these two sides played, TKR batted first and scored 142 runs to win by two runs.
Trinbago Knight Riders vs Jamaica Tallawahs Team Preview & Squads
Trinbago Knight Riders
The Knight Riders got off to a shaky start, being bowled out for 113 runs while chasing 168 runs against the Saint Lucia Kings. The Trinbago Knight Riders appeared to have carried over their batting troubles from the previous season.
However, in the following match, the middle order shone as the Knight Riders chased down 180 runs with six wickets in hand. Nicholas Pooran, who got 61 off 32 balls in that match, appeared out of shape in his subsequent appearances but is coming back with a bang.
The number three batsman got a century in the previous match against SNP and will be one to watch in this squad. While Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard are ideal finishers at the bottom of the order, Trinbago has discovered a gem in Akeal Hossein for the middle order.
He batted at number 5 against Guyana, when he struck an undefeated 44 off 35 balls. That apparently wasn’t enough for the skipper, as he replaced him as number 5 in the following games.
The middle order is the backbone of this hitting lineup, with the openers being unstable. Sunil Narine will be crucial for TKR in the next weeks. Hossein hasn’t taken many wickets, although he can bowl frugal spells at times. The other key wicket-taker in this bowling attack is Andre Russell.

Jamaica Tallawahs
The Jamaica Tallawahs have some strong bowlers on their roster who have delivered, but the total team effort has fallen short. Mohammad Amir bowled a brilliant stint against TKR, taking 3 for 20 and bowling a maiden over. Kelvin Pitman, though, went through the top order and also removed Pollard, finishing with 3 for 28 in 4 Overs.
Jamaica’s superb bowling attack limited the Knight Riders to 142 runs. Jamaica was supposed to lose this match, and they did. The Tallawahs were unable to reach the finish line despite Chris Green’s 32 off 16 in the bottom order. At the top, Alex Hales is having difficulty scoring runs. Skipper Brandon King has already appeared out of touch, and all eyes are now on the English opener to lead the Tallawahs’ recovery.
We already mentioned the Tallawahs’ lineup’s vulnerabilities at numbers 3 and 4. And they appear to be debating who would be the best candidate for those roles. We don’t think Jermaine Blackwood is a good replacement for Kirk McKenzie at number three. Imad Wasim, Fabian Allen, and Chris Green may all provide useful knocks down the order. It’s a formidable bowling assault, and King will be rooting for the bowlers to put Jamaica Tallawahs on top.
