India is in danger of losing the series against Zimbabwe, which did not qualify for the ICC WT20 2024, just days after winning the second T20I World Cup. The Harare Sports Club in Harare will host the second Twenty20 International of the three-match series on July 7th at 4:30 PM. Zimbabwe won the opening game yesterday, taking a 1-0 lead.
In the opening match of the series, the hosts humiliated the younger generation of Indian cricket players. Zimbabwe scored 115 runs in their first innings of play despite losing nine wickets. With 29 runs in 25 balls, wicketkeeper Clive Mandade led the run chart. Leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi took four wickets in his allotted four overs, yielding 13 runs. Sundar of Washington took two out of eleven.
India’s chase was disastrous, losing four wickets for twenty-two runs. The only other two batsmen to score in double figures were Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar, but skipper Shubhman Gill demonstrated some intent by scoring 31 runs off of 29 balls. India lost by 13 runs thanks to three wickets apiece from Tendai Chatara and Sikandar Raza.
In the previous eight years, India had not lost to Zimbabwe till now. After a fantastic T20 World Cup campaign, India has suddenly lost a game, while Zimbabwe has won the last two games.

Captain Sikandar Raza would be pleased with the result of the first encounter with India. Nobody would have predicted that Zimbabwe could win the match halfway through. However, the Zimbabwean bowling unit sealed a historic triumph in Harare. For Zimbabwe, Wessly Madhevere and Innocent Kaia will open the innings. Despite not being able to score in the game, Kaia has scored 167 runs at a strike rate of 123.10 in the last 10 innings. Number three will be Brian Bennett. Bennett, who is from Zimbabwe, has amassed 249 runs in the last 12 innings at the second-highest strike rate (135.32).
The middle order will be led by Sikandar Raza, Dion Myers, and Jonathan Campbell. Since the beginning of the previous year, Raza has been Zimbabwe’s top run scorer. With a strike percentage of 143.58, he has scored 705 runs in 20 innings. There are eight half-centuries in all. During this time, the all-round player has also claimed 25 wickets at an economy of 6.69. Myers scored 23 runs in the first game after making his debut.
Luke Jongwe and Wellington Masakadza will bowl in tandem with Tendai Chatara as the leader. In the past ten games, Chatara has 14 wickets at an average of 16.50. If Richard Ngarva returns to the starting eleven, it will be interesting to watch. Since the beginning of the previous year, Ngrava has been Zimbabwe’s top wicket-taker, amassing 31 wickets in 21 innings at the lowest economy of 6.15 of all.

India 2.0 will have a difficult time replicating the seniors’ recent T20I World Cup victory. In the opening game, India gave debuts to Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, and Abhishek Sharma. Regretfully, none of them were able to make an impression. Abhishek Sharma and Shubhman Gill will start the inning together. On his debut, Sharma was a complete bust. However, the captain scored 31 runs. After 15 T20Is, Gill has amassed 366 runs at a strike average of 142.96. Third place will go to Ruturaj Gaikwad. With a strike rate of 144.74, Gaikwad has scored 372 runs in the last ten innings.
Dhruv Jurel, Rinku Singh, and Riyan Parag will occupy the midfield positions. In the first game, none of the three players scored a double-digit amount. Rinku Singh, who was in the World Cup reserve squad, will be the center of attention. With an average of 71.20 and a strike rate of 174.50 over the last 12 innings, Rinku has scored 356 runs. The only other all-round player on the squad will be Washington Sundar. Sundar has amassed 87 runs at bat in 4 innings of the previous 12 games, while in 10 innings, he has taken 10 wickets with the ball. Among the players, his economy of 6.21 is the lowest.
Along with Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar will front the bowling assault. In the last 15 innings, Kumar has claimed 13 wickets. His economy is 9.13, though. Given that Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan both have economies over 9, India would find it challenging to contain the Zimbabwean hitters. Four wickets were taken in the first innings by Ravi Bishnoi. He is going to be the bowler to be cautious of.
