MIE lost their opening match of the ILT20 against the Dubai Capitals, but they bounced back swiftly to win three straight games. However, the ADKR’s season got a strong start against the Vipers before faltering badly in their next two games against MI Emirates and Dubai Capitals. They are now wallowing in the bottom half of the table after only one victory in three games.
In terms of victories, they are tied with the third-place Giants; nevertheless, their NRR (-2.33) has suffered significant harm from two consecutive heartbreaking losses. The ADKR needs a resounding victory over the MIE to restart their campaign and rebuild their damaged NRR.
But MIE won’t allow it to occur without a fight. They’ll aim to maintain their table-topping position, build on their winning rally, and stay far clear of the teams chasing them.
With the bat, Captain Nicholas Pooran is leading from the front. Having opened his competition with a rough 21 against the Capitals, he has since scored 51, 37, and 39 from 3 digs, tallying more sixes than fours in each of the innings.
In most games, the squad has gotten off to a fast start thanks to openers Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera, which has allowed the calypso batsmen to enter the game and attack the opposition. Another Caribbean T20 veteran, Andre Fletcher, is batting wisely and helping the Capitals create important middle-of-the-field partnerships.
The Emirates bowlers have been outstanding this season in terms of bowling. Kiwi Trent Boult has bowled exceptionally well with the new ball, taking nine wickets in four matches. He has also kept things close at the end of every ball he has thrown. Alongside Boult, Fazalhaq Farooqi has been similarly outstanding, making things difficult for the opposition openers when they get the new ball.
The Caribbean left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein has taken six wickets in his last three games and is playing outstandingly. After a dismal start against DC in which he went wicketless and let up nearly 40 runs in 4 overs, he has turned the tables.

Andries Gous nearly single-handedly won the game for his team against the Vipers in their opening match with a blitzkrieg 95 from 50 balls, but he didn’t play a big role in the other two games. Unfortunately for the Knight Riders, young batter Alishan Sharafu of the United Arab Emirates is still developing his thin swing with the bat. However, after putting up a massive 130 runs in 13 overs against the Capitals, Laurie Evans and Sam Hain are back among the runs.
In their opening match against the MI Emirates, Andre Russell fought alone as he watched his colleagues give up and lose wickets under duress. However, the large Jamaican could score a few more runs for the Knight Riders later in the game. The Knight Riders’ bowling occasionally appears toothless and lacking bite. Josh Little and David Willey didn’t bother the opposition batters with the ball in the early going, while Pakistani spinner Imad Wasim hasn’t been able to create momentum or put pressure on the opposing batsmen.
Sunil Narine, the captain of the Knight Riders, has shown he is the most economical bowler of them all by showing two impressive performances against the Vipers. His performance against the Capitals is noteworthy since he handed up fewer than six runs per over without receiving any help from the other team to contain them.
