West Indies vs India Team Preview
West Indies
If West Indies could win at Port of Spain after suffering a crushing loss last week, it would be a significant turnaround in their fortunes. They won’t feel confident with the bat or ball in this match.
Alick Athanaze made his debut in the first Test for West Indies and could be moved up the order in this match. Both Rahkeem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican bowl excellent control but did not have enough runs to work with from their batters. Overall, we do not anticipate significant changes to the playing XI.
India
In the First Test, India did not play with a great deal of aggressive purpose but yet prevailed before Day 4. We anticipate them to win this Test once more because they have more potent players in every position.
India begins this cycle of matches without the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (injured), and Mohammed Shami (resting) after becoming runners-up in the World Test Championship for the second consecutive year. Rohit Sharma’s team dominated the first match of the series, earning them an extra two days’ rest ahead of this encounter. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan both made their Test debuts in Dominica and will return in this Test.
Batting last on this wicket will be difficult against both sides’ excellent spin bowlers. In Trinidad, we anticipate that both teams would want to bat first.
All five scheduled days of the Test Match are expected to be humid, with a substantial risk of rain showers on each day.
We anticipate that this pitch will turn as the match goes on in Trinidad. The spinners will take longer to enter the game than in the first Test, and we estimate a par total of around 400 in the first innings.
