BAN vs WI (2nd Test) – Highlights In a thrilling Test match, BAN triumphed over the WI by 101 runs in the second Test
In his first match in the IPL, Mayank Yadav seized everyone’s attention with a storm of speed. He outdid himself in the second match. After playing only 2 matches in the IPL, Mayank was selected as the player of the match in both. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s devastating batting line-up could not keep up with the pace of this rising star. Chasing a challenging target, Virat Kohli’s team failed to grab a victory.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lost by 28 runs to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday (April 2). Royal Challengers were all out for 153 runs after going down to bat against the target of 182 runs given by Super Giants. Mayank Yadav was adjudged the player of the match by scalping the highest number of 3 wickets with just 14 runs in 4 overs.
RCB got off to a great start chasing a challenging target. The two openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 40 runs on the scoreboard in the first 4.1 overs. But then there was a fall in rhythm. RCB lost 3 wickets in the next two overs. Manimaran Siddharth sent Kohli to the dressing room for 22 runs off 16 balls.
Du Plessis returned to the dugout after being run out on the first ball of the 6th over. The RCB captain scored 19 runs off 13 balls. Mayank Yadav sent Glenn Maxwell was sent back to the pavilion before opening the run book in the same over.
Mayank broke his record with the ball in hand today. Before this match, Mayank’s was the fastest ball in this year’s IPL. He bowled that 155.8 kmph ball against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). He broke this record against the Royal Challengers and set a new record. Mayank bowled at 156.7 kmph against RCB.
Besides taking wickets, Mayank has shown enough control in bowling. RCB was somehow helpless in front of his controlled bowling. At the end of 10 overs, their score was 63 for 4 wickets for the Royal Challengers. After that, RCB tried to fight back a bit. However, Rajat Patidar tried hard at one end but got no support from the other end.
Patidar, who scored 29 off 21 balls in the 15th over, also got out. Impact batsman Mahipal Lomror’s 13-ball 33 at the end only narrowed the margin of defeat. In the end, RCB’s innings stopped at 153 runs.
Earlier, Quinton de Kock single-handedly pulled LSG with the bat in the first innings. This Protea wicketkeeper-batsman has played up to 17 overs. 81 runs from 56 balls with 8 fours, and 5 sixes came from his bat.
KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis made important contributions even though they did not stay together for long on the wicket. Rahul scored 20 runs off 14 balls and Stoinis played a cameo innings of 24 runs off 15 balls.
In the end, Nicholas Pooran raised a storm with the bat. His unbeaten innings of 40 off 21 balls studded with 1 four and 5 sixes, helped the Super Giants post a fighting score of 181 runs. RCB could not show the possibility of reaching the target at any stage of the game. With this loss, Royal Challengers have declined to 9th place in the points table. Only Mumbai Indians (MI) are below them.
