Losing the toss and batting first in the Bengaluru field, Gujarat collected only 23 runs losing the wickets of Wriddhiman Saha (1), Shubman Gill (2), and Sai Sudarshan in the power play.
With the bat of David Miller and Shah Rukh Khan, Gujarat then turned around. The duo added 61 runs off 43 balls in Gujarat’s scorecard. Miller made 30 runs off 20 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes and became the prey of Karn Sharma. Besides, Shahrukh departed in the next over as soon as 7 runs were added to the team’s account. He was run out by Virat Kohli after scoring 37 runs off 24 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.
Then the pair of Rahul Tiwatia and Rashid Khan added another 44 runs. Rashid was bowled by Yash Dayal after scoring 18 runs off 14 balls. Rahul also departed on the last ball of the same over. He scored 35 off 21 balls with 5 fours and 1 six before getting out.
Gujarat lost their last three wickets in the first three balls of the twentieth over. Vijaykumar Vyshak sent back Vijay Shankar (10) and Manav Sutar (1) with the first two balls. Then, Mohit Sharma was run out on the third ball.
Yash, Siraj, and Vijaykumar Vyshak took 2 wickets each for Bengaluru. Besides, Green and Sharma took 1 wicket each.
Batting for a target of 148 runs, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli knocked Gujarat out of the match with a partnership of 92 runs in 5.5 overs. Du Plessis played brilliant innings of 64 runs off just 23 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes and became Josh Little’s prey.
Bengaluru’s innings suddenly suffered after the departure of the captain. 7 to 11 in these four overs, Little and Noor Ahmed took 5 wickets of Bangalore. Will Jacks 1, Rajat Patidar 2, Glenn Maxwell 4, Cameron Green 1, and Virat Kohli left with 42 runs off 27 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes.
But the experienced Dinesh Karthik did not let the danger happen. He finished the match with Swapnil Singh. Karthik scored 21 runs off 3 fours from 12 balls. Swapnil accompanied him by scoring 15 runs off 9 balls.
Little took 4 wickets for 45 runs in 4 overs for Gujarat. In addition, Noor took 2 wickets.
With this victory, Bengaluru rose to the 7th position with 8 points in 11 matches. In the same match, Gujarat also has equal points, but Gujarat is at number 9 due to its run rate.
