Rahul’s team Lucknow lost by a big margin to Kolkata at home. Super Giants lost to Kolkata by 98 runs on Sunday (May 5). Batting first, Kolkata got a huge capital of 235 runs for 6 wickets. In reply, Lucknow were all out for 137 runs.
In such a match, Sunil Narine once again ran riot in the IPL. Lucknow Super Giant bowlers didn’t get a chance to stop Sunil and gave Kolkata Knight Riders a huge capital of 235 runs.
Kolkata Knight Riders have been in great form since the beginning of the current IPL. So far they have topped the table with 16 points from 8 wins in 11 matches. Rajasthan is second in the table after playing one less match with equal points. Lucknow, on the other hand, is struggling to make it to the playoffs. They are fifth in the table with 12 points from 11 matches.
After losing the toss and batting first, the two Kolkata openers started beating the Lucknow bowlers from the start. Two openers Narine and Phil Salt scored 61 runs off 26 balls in the opening pair in aggressive batting. Salt returned with 32 off 14 balls but Narine continued to show his batting ferocity.
Narine made a partnership of 79 runs with Angkrish Raghuvanshi for the second wicket. After scoring a 27-ball fifty, Narine stopped at 81 (39 balls with 6 boundaries and 7 sixes). Besides Raghuvanshi scored 32 runs off 26 balls.
In the end, Kolkata got a capital of 235 runs after losing 6 wickets in the stipulated over in the short innings of Russell, Iyer, and Ramadeep Singh. Ramandeep Singh scored 25 runs off 6 balls at the end. He batted at a strike rate of 416.66.
Naveen Ul Haque took 3 wickets for 49 runs for Lucknow. Besides, Yash Thakur and Ravi Bishnoi took one wicket each.
In response, Lucknow lost Arshin Kulkarni at 20 runs. Then captain Lokesh Rahul and Marcus Stoinis scored 50 runs. Rahul’s innings stopped at 25 runs off 21 balls. Stoinis was moving forward with some aggressive batting. But Andre Russell stopped him. He was caught by Harshit Patel after scoring 36 off 21 balls. No one else could even touch the 20-run mark down the stretch. As a result, Lucknow was bowled out for just 137 runs after batting 16.1 overs.
Harshit Rana grabbed three wickets for 24 runs, while Varun Chakraborty took three for 30. Andre Russell took two wickets.

Lucknow Super Giants – 137/10 (16.1)
Result – Kolkata Knight Riders won by 98 runs
