The Kiwi batsman was caught at mid-on while picking up Bhubaneswar’s outside off-length ball for 12 runs off 9 balls. Another opener Ruturaj Gaikwad tried to strike after his departure. But he did not last long at the crease. Shahbaz Ahmed got his wicket after he scored 26 runs off 21 balls, with 3 fours and 1 six. At the first ball of the eighth over, Chennai lost the second wicket for the team’s 54 runs.

However, Chennai dominated the third wicket. Impact player Shivam Dube stormed aside Ajinkya Rahane. They crossed the hundred in the 12th over. Chennai was getting glimpses of a big collection in their pair. However, Pat Cummins stopped Chennai’s run machine in the 14th over. Dube returned with a catch and 45 runs off 24 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours. Although Rahane was at the crease, his T20 innings was not easy. He got out in the 15th over after scoring 35 runs off 30 balls. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja hit 4 fours off 23 balls in an innings of 31 runs and got 165 for Chennai.
