India was in a tight spot during the group round. The game appeared to have been called off owing to rain, which was fortunate for them. In the Super Four episode, it was exactly the reverse. The Pakistani fans might not have wanted the game to be played in the rain even if it was on a reserve day.
In such a game, Pakistan’s chances of winning were all but gone as soon as India’s innings came to a conclusion. When the batters began to struggle after that, rain became Pakistan’s last resort. But despite the rain, not a single over was reduced for Pakistan.
Pakistan was bowled out for 128 runs in 32 overs while attempting to chase down the enormous 357-run mark set by India at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. As a result, India trounced their bitter rivals by a resounding 228-run margin.
In the run pursuit, Pakistan was surrounded from the beginning. Babar Azam scored 10 runs and went back to the dressing room, while Imam-ul-Haq scored 9. After Pakistan scored 44 for two wickets, it began to rain.
The game resumed after nearly one hour of interruption. Immediately following the start of the game following the rain, Mohammad Rizwan (2) also left. In the 12th over, Pakistan managed only 47 runs after losing 3 wickets.
Fakhar Zaman was playing the Test. not yet saved from Indian bowlers. With 27 runs off 50 balls, Kuldeep Yadav made the Pakistani opener his victim. Kuldeep thereafter descended into terribleness.
Agha Salman (23), Iftikhar Ahmed (23), and Shadab Khan are left-arm spinners. Pakistan was reduced to 128 runs in 32 overs after losing 7 wickets for 119 runs.
The left-arm spinner then sent Iftikhar Ahmed (23), Agha Salman (23), and Shadab Khan (6) back to the changing room. After that, Pakistan was reduced to 128 runs in 32 overs after losing 7 wickets for 119 runs.
Kuldeep Yadav, the Indian spinner, grabbed 5 wickets by himself, costing only 25 runs.
Earlier, India scored 356 runs for 2 wickets thanks to centuries from Virat Kohli and Lokesh Rahul.
India had lost the toss the day before and chosen to bat. But the game was called off because of rain after they had scored 147 runs in 24.1 overs. The match was postponed on the reserve day after the umpires were unable to begin the game even after a lengthy wait.
Due to the soggy outfield, the play could not begin promptly even on the reserve day. The field was ready after around two and a half hours. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma were both out earlier in the day, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 56 and Shubman Gill for 58 runs.
The following day, though, India entered the field with 147 runs in 24.1 overs but did not lose any more wickets. Besides, Virat Kohli and Lokesh Rahul both made centuries off just 84 and 100 deliveries, respectively.
For 233 runs in the 194-ball partnership, they were unbroken. With 122 runs from 94 balls, 9 boundaries, and 3 sixes, Kohli was still undefeated. He has 47 ODI centuries to his name.
Lokesh Rahul, on the other hand, scored his sixth century of his career with an unbeaten 111 off 106 balls that included 12 fours and 2 sixes.
