Galle Titans and Jaffna Kings faced each other in match 17 of Lanka Premier League 2023. Batting first in that match, Jaffna Kings set a very small target in the allotted 20 overs. But the players of Galle Titans reached the target before the scheduled 20 overs were over. As a result, they left the field with a huge triumph of 7 wickets. On the other hand, Kasun Rajitha won the man of the match title by bowling brilliantly for Galle Titans.

Jaffna Kings Captain Thisara Perera won the toss and elected to bat first and invited the Galle Titans to bowl. Batting first, Jaffna Kings started very badly. They lost 4 wickets for the team’s 7 runs. The right-arm fast-medium bowler Kasun Rajitha vanquished the Jaffna Kings. Rahmanullah Gurbaz left the field with a golden Duck first. Then Dunith Wellalage, who scored the most runs for them, left the field. He scored only 22 runs from 31 balls with the help of 4 fours. Dilshan Madushanka left the field after being bowled out in the last ball of the 19th over. He scored 12 runs off 29 balls with 1 four. Then, Nuan Thushara returned to the dressing room with the last ball of the scheduled over. He scored 7 runs from 3 balls with the help of 1 six. 

Besides, Mahesh Theekshana was unbeaten on 13 runs off 23 balls. In the end, they set a target of only 89 runs after losing 10 wickets with 4 runs extra.

Kasun Rajitha broke the base of Jaffna Kings with his great bowling. He took 4 wickets with only 20 runs after bowling 4 overs. Besides, Lahiru Kumara and Tabraiz Shamsi took 2 wickets each. Shakib Al Hasan took 1 wicket.

Chasing a small target of 90 runs, Galle Titans reached the target with 6.3 overs to spare, losing 3 wickets. Batting first, the openers of Galle Titans made a good start. Bhanuka Rajapakse and Tim Seifert put on a 27-ball stand of 34 runs. But then Bhanuka Rajapakse left the field after being caught out. He scored 15 runs off 11 balls with 3 fours. Then Tim Seifert left the field with 85 runs for the team. He scored the most runs for them. He scored 55 runs off 42 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six. Then, Shakib Al Hasan is out with 2 runs remaining. He scored only 2 runs in 4 balls. In the end, Chad Bowes was unbeaten on 13 off 23 balls and Dasun Shanaka was unbeaten on 2 runs.
