Delhi Capitals took on Punjab Kings at home in the 59th match of the IPL on Saturday (May 13). Batting first in that match, Punjab Kings set a moderate target in the 20 overs set by Prabhsimran Singh’s batting. But Delhi Capitals could not reach the target as the scheduled over ended. As a result, they have to leave the field with a loss of 31 runs. Along with that, Prabhsimran Singh won the Man of the Match title with his excellent batting.

At the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi, the Capitals chose to bat after winning the toss. Batting first, Punjab relied on the amazing century of Prabhsimran Singh to score 167 runs while losing 7 wickets. On the other hand, Delhi’s reply was 136 runs for 8 wickets.

Delhi has played a total of 12 matches with this. In these 12 games, they have earned 8 points for themselves. They won’t be among the top four teams even if they win the final two games. So, it’s safe to say goodbye to Delhi. Punjab, on the other side, has effectively preserved its prospects by defeating Delhi. They now have 12 points after 12 games. Occupies the sixth spot. There might be a chance if the final two games are victories.

After losing the toss and batting first, Prabhsimran Singh batted alone for them. He scored a fantastic century in a 65-ball barrage. There were 10 boundaries and 6 sixes. Nevertheless, 76 of his 103 runs came from those four sixes.

The only person who could stand was Prabhsimran Singh. The second-highest scorer, Sam Curran, scored 20 runs. On 11 runs, Sikandar Raja was still undefeated. The rest were unable of reaching the two-digit house. In the end, they added 13 runs to their original goal of 168 runs.

For Delhi, Ishant Sharma picked up 2 wickets for 27 runs. In addition, one wicket apiece was taken by Axar Patel, Praveen Dubey, Mukesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav. 

Delhi Capitals were batting brilliantly in the opening pair as they chased a straightforward 168-run winning goal. English batsman Phil Salt and captain David Warner combined for 69 runs in 6.2 overs. This game appeared to be a triumph for Delhi.

However, Delhi’s momentum fell apart as Phil Salt was caught after hitting 21 runs off 17 balls. On one side, Warner was removed for 54 off 27 balls with 10 fours and 1 six. Then on the opposing side, nobody else could stand. Praveen Dubey and Aman Hakeem Khan both scored 16 runs. At 10 runs, Kuldeep Yadav was still undefeated. In the end, nothing gave them the joy of winning the match.

For Punjab Kings, Harpreet Brar grabbed a maximum of 4 wickets while scoring 30 runs in 4 overs. Both Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar claimed two wickets. Rahul Chahar, though, was the most frugal. In 4 overs, he only spent 16 runs.
