Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (Match 30) – Highlights

In this article, we will discuss the Cricket Highlights of IPL 2024 on 15 April for Match 30 – Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad. The cricketing world witnessed the superhuman form of T20 on Monday (April 15) at the Chinvaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Both teams scored 549 runs in a 240-ball match. It naturally broke more than a dozen records. Hyderabad and Bangalore have proved that four-six is the life of T20 cricket. In the fight on the field, however, Hyderabad left the field with a smile of victory.

The fight was supposed to get boring after the first innings. Because Bengaluru bowlers failed miserably with the ball in hand like in other matches of the tournament. Hyderabad took the fight to an impossible level for RCB and made the highest collection of IPL by scoring 287 runs. After the first innings, it seemed that Virat Kohli’s team would write another defeated story.

But what Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Dinesh Karthik did in the second innings was nothing short of a fairy tale. The team fought till the end when they came down to bat with a mountain target of 288 runs. Kohli tried his best to make up for the failure of the bowlers with the bat. But the target of 288 runs is very much impossible. So, Du Plessis’s team finally lost after going close.

Royal Challengers Bangalore lost by 25 runs to Hyderabad in their seventh match in IPL. Kohli’s team scored 262 runs after losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs after going down to bat against the target of 288 runs given by Hyderabad. With this loss, Bengaluru tasted the fifth consecutive loss in this year’s IPL. They are at the bottom of the table with only 2 points in 7 matches.

Hyderabad lost the toss and batted first in Bengaluru’s home ground. Hyderabad’s two openers Abhishek Sharma and Head got the team off to a flying start. 108 runs came from the opening pair. Although Abhishek was dismissed for 34 runs, Head’s flurry of batting at the other end continued. He continued with the Protea batsman Klaasen.

Head scored the fastest century of the current IPL by scoring a century in just 39 balls. While Head’s century is the fastest in the current IPL, it is the fourth fastest in IPL history.

But Head could not go far. His innings stopped at 102 runs off 41 balls. Klaassen went on a rampage after Head got out. This Protea batsman scored a half-century off 23 balls. He got out after scoring 67 runs off 31 balls.

In the end, Hyderabad got a huge capital of 287 runs based on Markam’s 17-ball unbeaten 32 and Abdul Shamad’s 10-ball 37. This is now the highest run record in all the IPL seasons. The team scored 277 runs against Mumbai Indians this season. This time the team broke their record.

RCB got off to a great start chasing an almost impossible run. The two openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis kept the team in the fight by scoring 79 runs in the powerplay. This pair broke at 80 runs. Kohli, who scored 42 runs off 20 balls, was dismissed by ‘Impact Player’ Mayank Markander.

After Kohli’s departure, Bengaluru lost several wickets along with a reduced run rate. Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, and Saurabh Chauhan did not get runs in the big run chase. Then, the Captain joined the procession of wickets for the team’s 121 runs. He returned with 62 runs off 28 balls with 4 sixes and 7 fours.

Karthik and Lomror tried hard to get back into the fight on the sixth wicket. However, Cummins also broke their pair of 59 runs off 25 balls. Bengaluru’s target was 101 runs off 30 balls. Karthik fought alone in this almost impossible run chase.

Karthik hit two sixes in the 17th over, and one six each in the 18th and 19th overs. But in the end, he could not continue the fight. His innings of 83 runs from 35 balls, arranged with 7 sixes and 5 fours, was stopped by Nataranjan in the 19th over. Even though he did not win the match, the Bengaluru audience honored Karthik’s fight with a standing ovation.

549 runs in one match of IPL is now the highest run record in the history of the tournament. Mumbai-Hyderabad set a record of 523 runs in one match this season. This time Bangalore-Hyderabad broke that record. Hyderabad eventually won both the matches.
