Sunrisers Hyderabad took on Royal Challengers Bangalore at home in Match 65 of the IPL on Thursday (May 18). Batting first in that match, Sunrisers Hyderabad set a good target in the allotted 20 overs. But chasing that target, Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the target before the end of the scheduled over. As a result, they left the field with a huge victory of 8 wickets. Along with that, Virat Kohli won the Man of the Match title with his excellent batting.

 

To remain in the playoff race, Royal Challengers Bangalore had no choice but to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad at home.

In such a game, Faf du Plessis’ team also managed to prevail. With 8 wickets in hand and 4 balls remaining, Bengaluru collected 187 runs with Virat Kohli’s record-breaking century. With a win in this match, RCB passed Mumbai Indians and they rose to fourth place in the standings.

 

Hyderabad was asked to bat first after Bengaluru won the toss. In the stipulated 20 overs, Sunrisers scored a whopping 186 for 5. Heinrich Klaasen hit a century while batting from position four. He hit eight fours and six sixes in his 104 off 51 balls.

 

Harry Brook scored 27 from 19 balls without being dismissed, using 2 fours and 1 six. In addition, the skipper Aiden Markram finished with 18 runs off 20 balls, Abhishek Sharma scored 11 off 14 balls with the help of two fours, and Rahul Tripathi scored 15 off 12 balls with the help of two fours and a six. Besides, Glenn Phillips scored five runs off four balls as he returned to the dugout. They ultimately set a goal of 187 runs, with 6 runs extra.

 

For RCB, Michael Bracewell claimed two wickets for 13 runs in two overs. After scoring 17 runs in 4 overs, Mohammad Siraj claimed 1 wicket. In addition, Shahbaz Ahmed and Harshal Patel both claimed a wicket. Apart from this, Karn Sharma and Wayne Parnell failed to secure a wicket.

 

In reply, Bengaluru won by 8 wickets with only 4 balls in hand in Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ great innings. Kohli scored a great century for RCB. He completed his personal fifty off 35 balls with the help of 8 fours and 1 six. With the help of 12 fours and 4 sixes, Kohli reached the century mark in 62 balls. He finally left the field after scoring 100 runs in 63 balls.

 

In the IPL three years later, Kohli scored a century. His previous IPL century occurred in 2019. In the IPL, this is Kohli’s sixth century. He and Chris Gayle shared ownership of the league’s highest century and thanks to this one.

On the other hand, Captain Du Plessis was outstanding with the bat despite not recording a century. In just 34 balls, the half-century mark was reached with 5 fours and 1 six. Ultimately, this Protea was dismissed for 71 runs off 47 balls, with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Also remaining unbeaten were Michael Bracewell with 4 runs and Glenn Maxwell with 5.

 

For the Sunrisers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan each took one wicket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was their worst bowler aside from that.
