Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma set a world record for runs in the power play but Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) could not sustain the run rate later. But even then, the collection remains a mountain before Delhi Capitals (DC). DC’s batsmen could not give a proper answer while chasing a big target. And they left the field losing by a big margin.

 

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Delhi Capitals by 67 runs in the 35th match of IPL on Saturday (April 20). SRH collected 266 runs after losing 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, DC was responding well to a storm from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel. But after their departure, Rishabh Pant’s team was bowled out for 199 runs with five balls in hand.

 

Batting at home with a target of 268 runs, DC lost Prithvi Shaw’s wicket in the first over. This impact player of DC departed after scoring 16 runs off 5 balls. David Warner also departed in the next over. He became a victim of Bhuvneshwar Kumar after scoring only 1 run off 3 balls.

 

When the two openers departed, Fraser-McGurk started rampaging on the wicket. DC completed their century in the seventh over. Fraser-McGurk completed his half-century in just 15 balls. Partner Abishek Porel was also giving good company. But Fraser-McGurk fell victim to Mayank Markande in the last ball of the seventh over. He scored 65 runs off 18 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes.

 

And after two overs, Porel also departed. He scored 42 off 22 balls with 7 fours and 1 six before being stampeded by Markande. After Porel’s dismissal, DC was knocked out of the match. Only 19 runs were added to the scoreboard in the next 16 balls. Tristan Stubbs departed with 10 runs off 11 balls. T Natarajan dismissed Lalit Yadav (7).

 

Coming to bowl in the 19th over, Natarajan dismissed Axar Patel (6), Anrich Nortje (0), and Kuldeep Yadav with the first, third, and fourth balls respectively. In the last over, Nitish Reddy ended the innings by dismissing DC captain Rishabh Pant. Pant scored 44 runs off 35 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.

 

Natarajan took 4 wickets with just 19 runs in 4 overs for Sunrisers. Besides, Markande and Nitish Reddy took 2 wickets each. Washington Sundar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 1 wicket each.

 

Earlier, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma ran rampant on DC when they came down to bat. They set a world record by scoring 125 runs in the power play. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 46 off 12 balls, with 2 fours and 6 sixes. Travis Head, the centurion of the previous match, scored 89 runs in 32 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes. Besides, Nitish Reddy scored 37 off 27 balls, and Shahbaz Ahmed scored 59 off 29 balls.

 

For DC, Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets with 55 runs in 4 overs. Apart from this, Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar took 1 wicket each.
