Washington Freedom and Los Angeles Knight Riders met in the 9th match of Major League Cricket starting this year. Batting first in that match, Los Angeles Knight Riders set a good target in the allotted 20 overs. But Washington Freedom reached the target before the scheduled 20 overs were over. As a result, they left the field with a victory of 6 wickets. On the other hand, Andre Russell won the man-of-the-match title for Los Angeles Knight Riders.

Washington Freedom captain won the toss and elected to bowl first and invited Los Angeles Knight Riders to bat. Batting first, the openers of Los Angeles Knight Riders could not get off to a good start. They lost 3 wickets for the team’s 38 runs. First, Jason Roy, who scored 7 runs from 10 balls, had to leave the field after being trapped by Saurabh Netravalkar‘s LBW. Nitish Kumar left the field with 9 runs off 8 balls. And in the 7th over, Unmukt Chand, who scored 18 runs off 21 balls, returned to the dressing room.

Then Jaskaran Malhotra and Rilee Rossouw took the team’s runs to 68 runs. But soon Jaskaran Malhotra returned from the field to the pavilion. In the last over, Corne Dry left the field and scored 7 runs off three balls with the help of 1 six. Besides, Andre Russell remained undefeated by batting brilliantly for them. He played a beautiful innings of 70 runs off 37 balls. His innings of 70 runs were studded with 6 fours and 6 sixes. In the end, they lost 7 wickets with 10 runs extra and scored 175 runs.

Captain Moises Henriques took 3 wickets for 26 runs in 3 overs for Washington Freedom. Marco Janssen took 2 wickets. Apart from this, Saurabh Netravalkar and Akeal Hossain took 1 wicket each.

Batting for a target of 176 runs, Washington Freedom reached the target in 18.1 overs. Matthew Short scored the most runs for them with the help of 3 fours and 1 six he scored 43 runs off 35 balls. On the other hand, another opener Andries Gous played a stormy innings of 40 runs from 15 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. Mukhtar Ahmed scored 15 runs off 11 balls with the help of 3 fours. Glenn Phillips scored 29 runs off 19 balls. He also hit 1 four and 2 sixes. 

Besides, Moises Henriques remained unbeaten on 16 runs from 12 balls with the help of 2 fours and Obus Pienaar remained unbeaten on 24 runs off 17 balls with the help of 4 fours. In the end, their innings stopped at 177 after losing 4 wickets with 8 extra runs.

Ali Khan, Spencer Johnson, Sunil Narine, and Adam Zampa took 1 wicket each for Los Angeles Knight Riders.
