MI New York and Washington Freedom faced each other in the 13th match of Major League Cricket starting this year. In the game, Washington Freedom batted first and set a reasonable goal in the given 20 overs. But MI New York reached the target before the scheduled 20 overs were over. As a result, they left the field with a win which was a big margin of 8 wickets. On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran won the man-of-the-match title for MI New York with great batting.

MI New York Captain won the toss and elected to bowl first and invited Washington Freedom to bat. Batting first, Washington Freedom’s openers could not get off to a good start. They lost 3 wickets for the team’s 57 runs. First, the opener Andries Gous returned to the dressing room after losing his wicket. He was caught out by Rashid Khan and left the field. Scored 20 runs off 15 balls with the help of 3 fours. 

Then Matthew Short left the field at 45 runs. He scored 14 runs off 15 balls with the help of 2 fours before being caught out and leaving the field. Coincidentally, Mukhtar Ahmed also left the field after playing 15 balls. He scored 18 runs with the help of 3 fours. Then Captain Moises Henriques and Glenn Phillips took the team’s run from 57 to 134 after Mukhtar Ahmed left the field.

But then Captain Moises Henriques left the field. He played an innings of 32 runs off 30 balls with the help of 2 fours. Glenn Phillips returned to the dressing room 3 balls after Captain was dismissed. He scored the most runs for them. He played an innings of 47 runs off 35 balls. He also hit 2 fours and 3 sixes. Then Akeal Hossain left the field in the last over after scoring 8 runs in 4 balls.

Besides, Obus Pinar and Marko Jansen both remained unbeaten on 8 runs. One played 4 balls to make 8 and one played 2 balls. In the end, their innings stopped at 160 runs with 5 extra runs.

Kieron Pollard took 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs for MI New York. Besides, Nosthush Kenjige, Trent Boult, Rashid Khan, and David Wiese took one wicket each.

Set to bat for a target of 161 runs, the MI New York team reached the target with the loss of just 2 wickets with 27 balls in hand. Their two openers Monank Patel and Shayan Jahangir got off to a great start. The two made a great pair of 67 runs off 42 balls. But it did not last long. Akeal Hossain bowled Monank Patel out in the last ball of the 7th over. He played a brilliant innings of 44 runs off 29 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six before getting out. 

Nicholas then went to the field to accompany Shayan Jahangir. Together they took the team’s total to 108 runs. But then Shayan Jahangir returned to the dressing room. He scored 29 off 21 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes before getting out. Finally, Kieron Pollard came into the field. Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard then left the field with the win.

Nicholas Pooran was unbeaten on 62 off 33 balls. He also hit 4 fours and 6 sixes. Besides, Kieron Pollard was unbeaten on 21 runs from 10 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes.

Akeal Hossain and Dane Piedt took 1 wicket each for Washington Freedom.
