BAN vs WI (2nd Test) – Highlights In a thrilling Test match, BAN triumphed over the WI by 101 runs in the second Test
Australia did not make a good start in chasing the target. However, the Aussies put India under a lot of pressure with the devastating batting prowess of Marcus Stoinis and Tim David. After breaking the pair, victory became a matter of time for India. Suryakumar Yadav’s team took a 2-0 lead in the series after winning by a big margin.
India defeated Australia by 44 runs in Thiruvananthapuram, India on Sunday (November 26). The Aussies’ innings stopped at 191 runs when they came down to bat against the target of 236 runs given by India.
Australia started well picking up 31 runs in the first two overs chasing the target. However, Ravi Bishnoi came to the bowling in the third over and pulled the reins of the Aussies. He also got the team’s first wicket by sending off Matthew Short (19). In the next over, Josh Inglis (2), the centurion of the last match, was sent back to the dressing room by Bishnoi.
Glenn Maxwell started well. But Axar Patel did not allow him to score more than 12 runs. Steven Smith got out with 19 runs in the procession of wickets. David and Stoinis led the team after losing 4 wickets for 58 runs.
These two batsmen were devastating in the fifth wicket, they added 81 runs in 37 balls. But Bishnoi took control of the match again by getting rid of David. David got out with 37 runs off 22 balls. Stoinis, who scored 45 off 23 balls, was dismissed in the next over. After that, the loss becomes a matter of time.
In the end, Matthew Wade scored 42 runs from 23 balls, but it was of no use except to reduce the gap. All five bowlers got wickets for India in this match. Where Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna took the highest number of 3 wickets each. Apart from this, Axar Patel, Mukesh Kumar, and Arshdeep Singh picked up 1 wicket each.
Before batting, India stormed the powerplay. The hosts scored 77 runs in the first 6 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal picked up his fifty in the power play smashing 2 sixes and 9 fours. After scoring 53 runs off 25 balls, Nathan Ellis sent him back to the dressing room.
Ruturaj Gaikwad made a partnership of 87 runs with Ishan Kishan for the second wicket. Both have scored fifties. Stoinis dismissed Ishan who scored 52 runs off 32 balls. Captain Suryakumar got back in the ball of Ellis by scoring 19 runs.
Gaikwad got out in the last over after playing relatively slow innings. He scored 58 runs off 43 balls. Rinku Singh has done excellent batting. He struck 6 boundaries in 9 ball innings and scored 31 runs with 4 fours and 2 sixes. That’s why, India’s run reached 235.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was adjudged player of the match after playing brilliant innings. These two teams will meet in the third match of the series on Tuesday, November 28.
