BAN vs WI (2nd Test) – Highlights In a thrilling Test match, BAN triumphed over the WI by 101 runs in the second Test
Kolkata Knight Riders started this season’s IPL with two consecutive wins. After Sunrisers Hyderabad, this time Kolkata beat Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Bengaluru and Kolkata face off in the tenth match of the ongoing IPL 2024 on Friday (March 29). Batting first, Bengaluru collected 182 runs after losing 6 wickets at the end of 20 overs. In the first innings, Kohli played an unbeaten innings of 83 runs alone for the team. However, Kolkata won using 16.5 overs after leaving that innings behind.
In the previous match, Kohli played 77 runs off 49 balls innings against Punjab Kings. He also played a great innings against Kolkata to give the team fighting capital. However, as much as the start was good, Kohli and his team could not maintain that rhythm at the end.
After captain, Faf du Plessis got out with 8 runs from 6 balls, Kohli and Cameron Green brought the team to 61 runs in the power play by storming the second wicket pair. Green got out in the ninth over of the innings after scoring 33 runs off 21 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. However, keeping one edge, Kohli scored his second consecutive fifty in the tournament. Maxwell, who came to accompany him, was dismissed for 28 off 19 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. The team then collected 124 runs after losing 3 wickets in 14.1 overs.
After that, Rajat Patidar (3) and Anuj Rawat (3) could not stay at the crease. Bengaluru’s run rate slowed down a bit due to the departure of two consecutive batters. Kohli was quiet for a while. In the end, Dinesh Karthik came down and played an important innings of 20 runs off 8 balls with 3 sixes and crossed the team’s total of 180. Kohli remained unbeaten with 83 runs off 59 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours.
Russell took 2 wickets for Kolkata at the cost of 29 runs. Harshit cost 39 runs to take 2 wickets. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc was completely unsuccessful with the ball. He gave 47 runs in 4 overs but remained wicketless.
Kolkata started well in reply to 183 runs. Two openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine scored 86 runs on the scoreboard before seven overs. However, Kolkata moved forward there. Even though Narine got out after playing a 47-run innings off 22 balls, there was no interruption in the pace of scoring runs. Salt was dismissed for 92 runs.
After that, two Iyer took the innings forward – Venkatesh Iyer and captain Shreyas Iyer. Venkatesh scored 50 runs from 30 balls. On the other hand, the Kolkata captain scored an unbeaten 39 off 24 balls. Kolkata won by 7 wickets with 19 balls in hand.
