The match between the two teams at the bottom of the points table of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 spread excitement at the end. Mitchell Marsh showed great all-round skills. But Delhi Capitals (DC) was not saved. David Warner’s team lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

 

Sunrisers defeated Capitals by 9 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday (April 29). Batting first, courtesy of Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen’s half-centuries, SRH collected a score of 197 runs by losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In response, despite the half-centuries of Philip Salt and Mitchell Marsh, DC’s innings stopped at 188 runs after losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

 

After winning the toss and batting, Sunrisers got big collections mainly from Abhishek Sharma and Proteas recruit Heinrich Klaasen. Abhishek scored 67 off 36 balls before being caught by David Warner off Axar Patel. His innings had 12 fours and 1 six.

Mitchell Marsh bowled well for DC in this match. He picked up 4 wickets with only 27 runs in four overs. Axar Patel and Ishant Sharma took the remaining two wickets.

Capitals captain Warner was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar before opening the run book to chase the big target of 198 runs. However, DC was on the way to victory with the great batting of another opener, Philip Salt, and Mitchell Marsh, who went down one down. The pair added 112 runs off just 66 balls. Mayank Markande broke this pair by returning Salt. He scored 59 runs off 35 balls with the help of 9 boundaries.

 

After Salt’s departure, the Capitals’ innings collapsed. Losing the 2nd wicket in the team’s 112 runs, DC lost six wickets to get 148 runs! Manish Pandey (1) departed for the team’s 115 runs. After that, when Marsh caught the ball of Akeal Hosein in the hands of Markram in the team’s 125 runs, the match was lost at the hands of DC. Marsh scored 63 runs off 39 balls with 1 four and 6 sixes.

 

After the departure of this Australian all-rounder, no other batsman could stand in the trust of the team. Priyam Garg scored 12 and Sarfaraz Khan scored 9 runs. Axar Patel tried with Ripal Patel for the seventh wicket partnership but it was not enough to win. Axar scored 29 runs off 14 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes. Ripal scored 11 runs off 8 balls.

 

With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad has overtaken Mumbai Indians (MI) to the 8th position in the points table. Sunrisers have collected 6 points in 8 matches. MI also collected 6 points with one less game. But they are behind SRH in run rate. Delhi Capitals is now at the bottom of the points table with 6 points from just 2 wins in 8 matches.
