B-Love Kandy vs Colombo Strikers (Match 3) – Highlights

B-Love Kandy and Colombo Strikers met in match 3 of Lanka Premier League 2023. Batting first in that match, Colombo Strikers set a moderate target in the allotted 20 overs. But the players of B-Love Candy could not reach the target as the scheduled 20 overs were over. As a result, they left the field with a loss of 27 runs. On the other hand, Babar Azam won the man of the match title by batting well for Colombo Strikers.

Colombo Strikers captain Niroshan Dickwella won the toss and elected to bat first and invited B-Love Candy to bowl. Dickwella, the opener, did not start well when he came to bat first. He left the field trapped by Isuru Udana’s lbw. Scored only 4 runs off 4 balls. Then Pathum Nissanka entered the field to accompany Babar Azam. But he also could not stay in the field for long. He was run out after scoring 15 runs off 12 balls with the help of 2 fours.

Then Babar Azam took the team’s run from 33 to 93 with Nuwanidu Fernando following Pathum Nissanka‘s departure. The two made a partnership of 60 runs off 54 balls. But Nuwanidu Fernando left the field and returned to the dressing room. He scored 28 runs off 31 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six before being caught out and leaving the field. After that no one can play a respectable innings. Dhananjaya Lakshan scored 12 runs off 11 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six. He left the field after being caught out. Babar Azam, who scored the most runs for the team, returned to the pavilion at the team’s 141 runs. He left the field after being caught out by Isuru Udana. He scored 59 off 52 balls with 4 fours and 1 six before getting out. Then, Mohammad Nawaz returned to the dugout with 3 balls left. Scored 10 runs off 6 balls. 

Besides, Chamika Karunaratne remained unbeaten for 9 runs from 4 balls and Ramesh Mendis remained unbeaten for 6 runs from 3 balls. In the end, their innings stopped at 157 runs with the loss of 6 wickets and 14 runs extra.

Isuru Udana took 3 wickets for 39 runs in 4 overs for B-Love Candy. Besides, Mohammad Hasnain took 2 wickets. 

Batting for 158 runs, B-Love Kandy could not stand in front of the bowling of Colombo Strikers. Their innings stopped at 130 runs after losing 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. No one can score more than 25 runs for them. Angelo Mathews scored the most runs. He scored 25 runs off 22 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six. Besides Thanuka Dabare scored 4 runs, Dinesh Chandimal 10 runs, Kamindu Mendis 15 runs, Ashen Bandara 12 runs, Captain Wanindu Hasranga 9 runs, Sarfaraz Ahmed 16 runs, Amer Jamal 7 runs, Isuru Udana 7 runs, and Mohammad Hasnain scored 7 runs. Even with 18 extra runs, they were left behind by 27 runs.

Mathisha Pathirana took 3 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs for Colombo Strikers. Besides, Naseem Shah and Jeffrey Vandersay took 2 wickets each, and Mohammad Nawaz took 1 wicket.
