PS-W vs MR-W (11th Match) – Highlights In this article, we will discuss the 11th match of the Women’s Big Bash League between Perth
Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan in the life-death match to advance to the Asia Cup Super-Four. Everyone thought the Tigers appeared to have found their rhythm once more. But in the opening game of the Super-four phase, that batting error occurred once more. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore saw only 193 runs from Bangladesh’s innings. But with seven wickets in hand and 63 balls remaining, Pakistan reached the port of victory.
There were not many runs scored for Bangladesh. However, the Tiger bowlers persistently put the Pakistani batters under strain. With 35 runs off 55 balls, Shariful Islam broke the first-innings partnership of Pakistan. His excellent delivery was missed by Fakhar Zaman (20 off 31) who left the field by being trapped in LBW.
Then Taskin Ahmed bolded out Babar Azam with a great spell. Babar (17 runs off of 22 balls) was struck by a delivery from Taskin that broke the stumps. For 74 runs, Pakistan lost the second wicket.
However, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq worked together to guide the side to a straightforward victory. Pakistan scored 85 off 104 balls to win the game.
Miraz finally bowled out Imam. Imam scored 78 runs in 84 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes, before returning to the dressing room. But Pakistan’s triumph was already secured at that point. With 79 balls played, Mohammad Rizwan hit 7 fours and 1 six, finishing the game with an unbeaten 63 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost 4 wickets while facing Shaheen Shah Afridi, Nasim Shah, and Haris Rauf’s bowling and scored 47 runs. Then Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, two seasoned batsmen, took over and led the team from there.
After Bangladesh recovered from the original disaster, this pair assisted in the construction of its capital. The remainder, though, displayed tremendous carelessness. Playing big shots, they lost wickets one after another. The Tigers lost 4 wickets to score 3 runs in the last 9 balls. So, even after turning around Bangladesh’s innings ended with 193 runs in 38.4 overs.
Mehidy Miraz failed to perform for Bangladesh after winning the toss against Pakistan. Naeem Sheikh played the first over against Shaheen Shah Afridi. Couldn’t score any runs though.
The second over was to be bowled by Nasim Shah. As soon as Miraz faced his first ball, he was caught out (0 from 1 ball). Liton then signaled progress by hitting four striking boundaries. This batter, though, was unable to break his error-making pattern. After being caught out by Shaheen Afridi, Liton came back. In 13 balls, he scored 16 runs.
Besides, Naim Sheikh was prepared. This opener, however, was short-lived. Naim scored 20 runs with his bat, scoring 4 fours in 25 balls.
Once again, Towhid Hridoy failed. He did not notice Rauf’s 145-speed ball with his eyes. After being bowled out for two from nine balls, this teenager went back to the dressing room.
Then Shakib got out, seven fours were hit in Shakib’s 53 runs off 57 balls. Shamim Patwari after that, caught everyone’s eye with a spectacular six. But rather than using this advantage at the expense of his side, he lost his wicket (16 off 23 balls). Mushfiqur was then caught out by Haris Rauf for 5 boundaries while scoring 64 off 87 balls.
After that, Afif Hossain made no attempt to play. He gave the wicket after scoring only 12 runs. Eventually, Bangladesh’s innings in the batting exhibition came to an end after 193 runs, even though they had the option of playing the complete 50 overs, where more than 250 runs might have been scored.
Haris Rauf took 4 wickets for 19 runs and Naseem Shah took three wickets for 34 runs.
Bangladesh – 193/10 (38.4)
Pakistan – 194/3 (39.3)
