Cricket Highlights, 8 April: IPL 2023 (Match 11) – Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals

Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals (Match 11) – Highlights

In the 11th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals squared off yesterday (April 8). In their third game of the current season, the Delhi Capitals made four substitutions, although Tiger pacer Mustafizur Rahman was not one of them. Without him, the franchise was unable to reverse its fortunes in this game as well. They were defeated by Rajasthan Royals by a lopsided score of 57 runs.

Delhi Capitals relied on South African pacer Anrich Nortje in places when Mustafizur Rahman would have had a chance under the international quota. But can Anrich Nortje actually offer evidence of her expertise? He took two wickets in the previous game but allowed 39 runs in four overs. So Delhi suffered a severe loss to Gujarat Titans as a result.

Norkia also expended more in this game, with 44 runs in 4 overs. Not a single wicket was obtained. As a result without Mustafiz, Delhi was defeated for the third straight game.

In that match, Rajasthan achieved 199 runs after losing the toss despite losing 4 wickets, thanks to the batting prowess of Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Jaiswal was batting intimidatingly from the beginning. Rajasthan’s innings had reached 98 runs in just 8.3 overs when he was dismissed for 60 runs off 31 balls with 11 fours and 1 six. Then, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag were sent back to the pavilion by Delhi’s bowlers in an effort to seize control of the game, but Buttler prevented that from happening. Until the 19th over, the batter produced a superb inning, scoring 79 runs off 51 balls with 11 fours and 1 six. After that, Shimron Hetmyer’s unbroken 21-ball, 39-run batting spree ultimately forced Rajasthan to set Delhi a target of 200.

The ball was not in the Delhi bowlers’ favor on this particular day. At a cost of 36 runs, Mukesh Kumar claimed the maximum 2 wickets. In addition, Kuldeep Yadav and Rovman Powell each claimed one wicket.

Delhi’s innings came to an end with 142 runs with the loss of 9 wickets at the end of the allotted over in Guwahati as they attempted to score 200 runs. Aside from the team’s captain David Warner, who had a 65, and Lalit Yadav, who had a 38, no one else had noteworthy innings.

Before scoring any runs in the first over of the opening innings, Delhi, who was chasing a large goal, lost the wickets of Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey, who had emerged as impact cricketers. Trent Boult, a Kiwi bowler, returned them with two consecutive balls. On the third wicket, Warner attempted to take the initiative, but Riley Russo was unable to support him. He came back and had a 12-ball, 14-run inning.

After handling the initial shock, Warner and Lalit worked together for the fourth wicket to get the team back in the game. In the pair of two, 64 runs were scored. Yet after Lalit was dismissed for 100 runs in the 13th over of the innings, Delhi once more lost its focus. Warner could not be kept on the side as Axar Patel, Rovman Powell, and Abhishek Porel were dismissed. Between the arrival and departure of his colleagues, Warner managed innings of 65 runs from 55 balls, but it was unsuccessful in the run chase.

Warner has reached a special milestone in his own career in the IPL yesterday, despite not being required by the team. After Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli, the franchise has now the third cricketer in league history to surpass 6,000 runs. In the end, Delhi departed the field with a loss of 57 runs.

For Rajasthan, Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal each grabbed three wickets. Two wickets were taken by Ravichandran Ashwin.
