Pathum Nissanka, the opening batsman, fell for just three runs in the first over, signaling a disastrous start to the innings. Although Kusal Mendis scored 17 runs off of 11 balls, he offered some resistance, but the wickets kept falling.

Rilee Rossouw’s dismissal for a duck and a string of low scores from the middle order, including Captain Charith Asalanka (13) and Fabian Allen (0), left the Kings in a precarious position. 

Shadab Khan was the standout bowler for the opposition, taking 4 wickets for just 10 runs in his 4 overs, stifling the Kings’ batting lineup with his economical and effective leg-spin.

Vijayakanth Viyaskanth provided some late resistance with an unbeaten 25 off 34 balls, while Pramod Madushan and Eshan Malinga contributed 10 and 15 runs, respectively. Despite these efforts, the Kings couldn’t reach a competitive total.

Binura Fernando (2/24) and Matheesha Pathirana (1/20) supported Shadab Khan well, ensuring the Kings never got away. The innings concluded with the Kings managing only 109 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, setting a modest target for their opponents.

The chase was a breeze for the opposition, as they reached the target of 110 in just 9.5 overs with an impressive run rate of 11.38. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the star of the innings, remaining unbeaten on 57 off 33 balls, hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes, and maintaining a striking rate of 172.72.

Angelo Perera provided a quick start, scoring 16 off 8 balls with 3 fours, but was dismissed by Pramod Madushan in the second over. However, his dismissal did not slow down the chase, as Muhammad Waseem joined Gurbaz and played a blistering knock of 35 not out from 18 balls, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes at a striking rate of 194.44.

The bowlers struggled to contain the batsmen, with Jason Behrendorff, Fabian Allen, Pramod Madushan, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, and Eshan Malinga all going for over 9 runs per over. Pramod Madushan was the only bowler to take a wicket, finishing with figures of 1/26 from his 2 overs.

Gurbaz and Waseem’s partnership ensured a swift victory, with the team reaching 112/1 in just 9.5 overs, securing a comprehensive win with more than half their allotted overs remaining.

Colombo, the Colombo Strikers secured a dominant 9-wicket victory over the Jaffna Kings with 61 balls to spare. The Jaffna Kings struggled to 109/9 in their 20 overs, with Vijayakanth Viyaskanth’s 25* off 34 balls being the top score. Shadab Khan was the standout bowler, taking 4/10 in his 4 overs.

In response, the Colombo Strikers chased down the target in just 9.5 overs, thanks to a blazing 57* off 33 balls by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and an unbeaten 35 off 18 balls by Muhammad Waseem. Shadab Khan was named Player of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance.
