RCB’s Red-Hot Streak What’s Behind Their IPL 2025 Takeover

If you are an RCB fan, then 2025 has been nothing less than a dream. After years of heartache, memes, and “Ee Sala Cup Namde” chants since 2008, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are walking the walk now – and how! Sitting atop the 2025 IPL points table with seven wins from ten games (and six straight wins away!), RCB looks like a team that has finally figured it out. But what has changed for RCB? Let’s take a look at the three key reasons that RCB is dominating IPL 2025.

Playing Fearlessly and Living the “Play Bold” Mantra

Do you remember when “Play Bold” was just a tagline and it never really was played on the field? Not anymore. This season, RCB is not just putting the Play Bold tagline on their shirts; they are playing it.

Immediately from the start, Rangana Herath’s Game one (versus KKR) at GATE ONE, there has been a shift: RCB no longer plays safe cricket. They play bold cricket, looking to attack in the powerplay and bowl aggressive lines and lengths instead of sitting back and containing. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are now hunting wickets and not just looking to concede fewer runs.

The batting has been equally as fearless. Phil Salt is going nuts at the top, Virat Kohli thrives on the game situation, and then Krunal Pandya – yes, Krunal – delivered a match-winning knock when DC had the first 3 wickets down quickly and overcame some tough situations.

Finally, A Squad That Ticks All the Boxes

One of RCB’s biggest weaknesses over the years was an unbalanced squad — an incredibly strong top order but an unstable middle order, or good bowlers with no finishers. However, today seems different because RCB seems to have a solid squad in 2025.

At the top of the order, Kohli and Salt offer such a nice right-handed/left-handed combination with strong work in the middle order from fearless strikers like Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar to avoid an unflavoury middle order. Padikkal, for instance, has been a revelation, hitting a career-high 154.36 in 2023!

Death over? No problem there. Tim David, Romario Shepherd & Jitesh Sharma provide this team with serious hitting power that has been lacking in recent seasons. And the bowler? Talk about putting your stamp on things – Josh Hazlewood is smashing the Purple Cap race while being supported by the excellence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the lively bowling of Yash Dayal. Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma have completely shut down the spinners section (and, for that matter, everyone else!).

Simply put, this RCB side appears to be ready to go! Every department is going well, and there’s form down the order batting and bowling to win matches in more than one way.

Teamwork and Smart Adaptations on the Field

When it comes to RCB this season, one thing is certain – it is no longer about individual skill, it is about team skill. All players are aware of what their role is, but more importantly, they are clear about achieving their roles.

Suyash Sharma might not have a mountain of wickets to his credit, but his bowing through the middle overs continues to tie down the quicks. Krunal Pandya has emerged as a real allrounder, mixing things up just enough to disrupt batters while scoring valuable runs too.

Will this be the year that RCB finally holds the IPL trophy for the first time? Fans are hoping, some might say even praying, that it is them this season. One thing is for sure: if they continue to play like this, the long-anticipated “Ee Sala Cup Namde” chant might just become reality.
