GT vs RR (47th Match) – Highlights
In a gripping match number 47 of Indian Premier League 2025 in Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals made a huge statement by defeating Gujarat Titans by eight wickets with 25 balls to spare. Chasing a sizeable target of 210, the Royals were led in by a breathtaking century from Vaibhav Suryavanshi, as he lit up the evening with a sensational innings of 101 in 38 balls.
The match began with Gujarat Titans winning the toss and opting to bat first. Skipper Shubman Gill led from the front with a commanding 84 off 50 deliveries, decorated with five boundaries and four sixes. Alongside him, Sai Sudharsan provided a solid start, contributing a steady 39 from 30 balls. Jos Buttler, batting at an unusual position, injected the innings with a quickfire unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, maintaining a strike rate close to 200. Contributions from Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia helped Gujarat post a competitive total of 209 for 4 at the end of their 20 overs.
In terms of how well the Rajasthan bowlers performed, Maheesh Theekshana was far and away the best, and he picked up two important wickets, Gill and Sudharsan. Even with a fairly high scoring run rate throughout the innings, the other two bowlers, Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma, were able to pick up one wicket each.
Chasing 210, Rajasthan Royals came out with a clear intent. Yashasvi Jaiswal set the tone with an elegant and aggressive 70 off 40 deliveries. However, it was the young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi who stole the show. His fearless stroke play saw him smashing seven fours and a staggering eleven sixes in a knock that will be remembered for years. Suryavanshi’s onslaught effectively took the game away from Gujarat within the first 12 overs.
Prasidh Krishna broke the opening stand of 166 runs when he had Suryavanshi dismissed, but by then, the match was virtually done and dusted. Nitish Rana fell early to Rashid Khan, but Riyan Parag put his foot down and ensured no more hiccups, hitting an unbeaten 32 from 15 balls to take the Royals over the line. Rajasthan finished their innings at 212 for 2 in just 15.5 overs to achieve arguably one of the most outstanding run chases in IPL history.
Among the Titans bowlers, Rashid Khan stood out with his disciplined bowling, conceding just 24 runs in his four overs and picking up a wicket. However, the rest of the Gujarat attack looked helpless against the firepower of Suryavanshi and Jaiswal, leaking runs at an alarming rate.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi should rightly be awarded the Player of the Match for his explosive century, which was both instrumental in Rajasthan’s victory and ensured his arrival on the big stage in style. The win puts Rajasthan Royals well and truly in the playoff race, while Gujarat Titans must wake up quickly if they do not want to drop even lower on the table.
